Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s Seventh Annual
System Integration in Biodefense: Addressing Technology Gaps and Challenges
Joanne Horn, Senior Staff Scientist at Microchip Biotechnologies will be presenting a talk entitled: ‘Microfluidic Biothreat Detection and Forensic Identification Systems’
| Dr Joanne Horn’s August 19th Presentation |
20 – 22 October, 2008. San Diego, Ca.
IBC’s Discover2Diagnostics Conference
Automated Template Preparation for Next-Generation DNA Sequencing
Joanne Horn, Ph.D.,
Sr. Staff Scientist, Microchip Biotechnologies Inc.
Automated production of templates is being developed in a cartridge-microfluidic format that will generate bar-coded, single-stranded DNA bound to beads. These beads will be subjected to emulsion-phase PCR using microfluidically-engineered emulsions in a separate module that incorporates downstream processing. This approach will be used to generate templates in a massively parallel fashion for supplying next generation sequencing systems.
Lab Automation 2008
MBI showed the Apollo 100 for the first time at this show.

ABRF 2008
Over 400 people attended the ABRF meeting and MBI exhibited the Apollo 100 at the show.

The First Annual Technological Advances in Human Identification
This was the first meeting and was hosted by the Virginia Department of Forensic Science. Dr Stevan Jovanovich, CEO and President of Microchip Biotechnologies, presented a talk entitled: ‘Developing a Portable Totally Automated Microchip Based System’.
